Elizabeth Mosteller – Elizabeth started the Greater Philadelphia Chapter after discovering the National WNBA and realizing there was no local chapter! A passionate educator and an emerging writer, she values books and writing in her personal and professional lives. She loves surrounding herself with the amazing, strong women of Women’s National Book Association and is excited to see our new chapter grow!
Liz Dowiak – Liz has been teaching Spanish for 24 years. She began as a high school Spanish teacher for the Upper Dublin School District and is now teaching elementary Spanish, K-5th, for the Perkiomen Valley School District. She has her Bachelor’s degree from Penn State University and a Masters in Educational Technology from Chestnut Hill College. Liz is a Seeing Eye Puppy Raiser and takes pride in the puppies she has raised that have become guide dogs. She is a wife and a mother of two daughters in college. In her spare time she loves to read, take walks with her dogs, travel the world, and work in her garden.
Dee Kindt – Dee has a background in business and is currently working as an Office Manager in Allentown, PA. She is also Certified in Elementary Education K- 6 through DeSales University, and English as a Second Language through Penn State University. She is a definitive foodie, and takes pride as a Consultant with her part-time business with Tastefully Simple. Being an avid reader all her life has fueled a love of writing, and recently a fascination with acting which keeps her quite busy in her free time.
Kate Sandora – Kate has been a teacher in the Perkiomen Valley School District since 1994 after graduating from Kutztown University. She began her career as a third grade teacher, moved to second grade and is currently a kindergarten teacher. She also has a master’s degree from Penn State University in Curriculum and Instruction. She is a wife and mother to two teenagers. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, scrapbooking, Disney World and of course reading.
Angie Venezia – Angie Venezia is a Project Associate at Telerx, a subsidiary of Merck & Co., Inc. She recently joined their team after being employed with the Perkiomen Valley School District for the past twelve years. While there, Angie was an Instructional Paraprofessional in both Special and Regular Education. Additionally, she taught English Language Learners at the elementary level and supported students with Autism. Angie holds a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Early Childhood Education from Shippensburg University. Also, she earned a certification in English as a Second Language from Immaculata University. Outside of work, Angie loves spending time with her two children and dog. She also enjoys reading and tutoring students.
Cindy Mannon – Cindy Mannon has been teaching in the Perkiomen Valley School District since 1995 after graduating from Moravian College in Bethlehem. She began her career as a kindergarten teacher and moved to second grade for four years. Cindy has returned to teaching her favorite age group, kindergarten children, who are full of energy and curiosity. She also has a master’s degree from Cabrini College in Elementary Education. Being a wife and mother of three is one of her most important jobs! In her free time, she enjoys reading and writing. She is an aspiring author.
Maria Thomson – Maria Thomson has been teaching second grade for 12 years. She received her BS in Elementary/Early Childhood Education from Bloomsburg University and went on to earn a MS in Curriculum & Instruction from Penn State University. She is always looking for new books to share her love of reading with her students. Some of her favorite children’s authors are Eric Carle, Drew Daywalt, and Patricia Polacco. When not writing lesson plans and reading children’s books, Maria enjoys reading biographies and fiction novels, practicing yoga, and doing crafts.
Shelley Douglas – Shelley Douglas is a reading specialist in the Perkiomen Valley School District and a former classroom teacher. In her thirty plus years as an educator, she has embraced many new ideas and innovative teaching methods, has learned from her mistakes, and is still searching for answers. She is an avid reader of adult and children’s fiction, and a proud volunteer of the Montgomery County Reading Olympics for children.
Carli Ducko – Carli Ducko is an undergraduate student at West Chester University of Pennsylvania studying Secondary English Education, Special Education, and Autistic Education. She received her Associate’s Degree in Marketing and Management before rediscovering her passion in the field of education. In addition to her studies, Carli works as an Instructional Assistant in a Career and Technology Education Center High School that serves three school districts in the Montgomery County Area. When she is not studying or working, she also enjoys spending time with her husband and son and their two kittens. In addition to being avid book enthusiast, Carli is also an aspiring author.
Brittany Berry – Currently, studying Communications to one day become a Journalist, Brittany received her Associate’s Degree in 2015 and will be continuing her education in the Fall of 2016. In the meantime, she likes to keep herself busy with swimming, writing & everything in between! She owes her love for reading to her family.
